Custom Skiing Camps and Private Trips

flexible dates from December - April

If the dates for this year’s steep camp don’t work for you, or you don’t want to join a group, a Custom Steep Camp might be just the thing for you.

Itinerary/What to Expect

We can offer 5-7 day camps anywhere in the Alps.  These camps will be similar to the classic Steep Camps, but it will just be you or your group of friends.  We can take groups of 1-4 skiers or snowboarders.  Our most popular locations are Chamonix and La Grave, but we also recommend Verbier and Gressoney/Alagna.

Chamonix

Chamonix is the mountaineering and ski mountaineering capital of the world.  You cannot miss the rich history of alpinism and extreme skiing that has taken place here.

Chamonix is in the heart of the Alps and is an ideal base for our Steep Skiing Camp.  There is endless fantastic skiing in Chamonix and we will certainly be able to venture outside of the valley for some of the camp as well.  There are many descents off the Aiguille du Midi, short tours over the backside of the Aiguilles Rouges, a few big lines off the Grands Montets, and some nice descents in Le Tour: just to name a few of the options in Chamonix.

A quick trip through the Mont Blanc Tunnel into Italy gives us access to La Palud, Courmayeur and La Thuile.  We can even carry on to the Italian side of the Monte Rosa if conditions are good there.  Chamonix is just on the border with Switzerland and we have many nice options there as well, including many small ski stations with hidden powder stashes.  Verbier is an option if the conditions happen to be ideal there.

The climax of the camp will involve a helicopter lift into the high mountains to access an epic descent and a full day of ski mountaineering.  Options for this day include: Trient, Dômes du Miage, Mont Blanc from the Piton des Italiens, the Monte Rosa and many others.

Your steep camp guides are highly qualified, UIAGM certified guides, who will provide you with the experience of a lifetime.  Your guide will take you to the epic descents, while teaching you how to make sound decisions along the way.  The steep camp is not a “course” in the sense that we are not going to spend much time standing around.  Rather, you will learn by doing.  The Steep Camp is an adventurous, educational and exciting ski week that will tire you out and send you home with memories you only dreamed about before.

No matter how experienced or how well you ski, you will learn and be challenged by the camps. Not to worry if you are an expert coming to the Chamonix Camp, groups are split by ability and fitness.

La Grave

La Grave is truly a unique experience.  There is no other place for skiing like it in the world.  La Grave is not a ski area – it is simply one cable car, which accesses 7,200 vertical feet of adventure skiing.  The terrain is steep and varied.  La Grave has it all: endless long couloirs, glaciers, big steep faces and tree skiing.

La Grave has no groomed runs, no ski patrol and no ski school.  It is the “haute montagne,” the high mountains, governed only by nature’s laws, which must be learned and respected.  After stepping off the télépherique you will quickly find that it is just you, your guide, and your steep camp group skiing your private descent.  La Grave is a quiet, very old agricultural village with no influence from the modern ski world.  La Grave is the place for serious skiers looking for the ultimate adventure.
